Ukraine and “Israel” have already lost their wars, and they’re in the process of undergoing a more profound defeat. One where the fascists who are driving the Kiev regime’s Banderist terror campaign, and the Zionist settlers who are driving the genocide against Palestine, become irreversibly less able to exert power. Thereby, the imperial hegemon will get further shrunken as well, losing more of its capacity to geo-strategically maneuver within Eurasia or sustain its military occupations. Our enemies aren’t ever truly going to recover from the losses they’ve experienced over these last few years. That doesn’t mean they aren’t going to cease to pose a threat as soon as this stage of the anti-imperialist struggle is over, though.
The Ukrainian Nazis and the Zionists are going to blame their defeats on the communists in the United States, then wage a campaign to try to exterminate us in the style of past anti-communist terror efforts. The reactionaries are rapidly losing their strength, but this means our class conflict is escalating. The growing threat of Ukrainian and Zionist terror against our revolutionary organizations is making the dividing barriers clearer, forcing everyone to pick sides. And if we want to prevail against the fascists, we’ll need to recognize exactly who our friends and enemies are in this fight. One part of this is understanding that “Antifa,” as we know it today, is filled with individuals who are willing to let the fascists crush the anti-imperialist movement.
A recent omen for where Antifa will side in this next stage came when a group of German leftists displayed an “anti-fascist” flag next to the flag of the Zionist state. This was not an isolated instance, but was representative of a wider issue with the global groups which share the “Antifa” label. This is because of how many anarchist “anti-fascists” have taken the same side as the Zionists within our geopolitical conflict. I’m talking about how they’ve been helping Ukraine against Russia, assisting the fascist Kiev junta that “Israel” has increasingly been supporting.
The role of these leftists who’ve joined in on NATO’s proxy war has been to divert attention from the genocidal, pro-Nazi ideology which guides the Kiev leadership. While reporting on the activities of the “anti-fascists” who’ve formed a platoon to combat Russia, one NATO propaganda site has given these “left” imperialist agents an opportunity to manipulate the narrative in this way:
Inside their unit, the fighters try to live out their politics, with a more democratic culture of free discussion and critique. Deputy commanders are elected for each section, while regular meetings allow fighters to relay feedback. [Leftist fighter] Ilya hoped that the existence of their platoon would contest the allegations surrounding the far-right in Ukraine. “The myth about the far-right dominating Ukrainian politics relies partly on very huge, well-financed and active propaganda by the Kremlin and partly on the actual, visible presence of the far-right in Ukraine,” says Ilya. “But statements that the far-right shape Ukrainian politics, society or army are simply not true,” he added. Moscow has repeatedly said its "special military operation" is to disarm and "denazify" its neighbour. Ukraine and its allies call this a baseless pretext for a war that has killed thousands, flattened cities and forced millions of people to flee.
These fighters, along with the “Antifa” participants in the U.S. who share their opposition to Russia’s denazification effort, aren’t just aiding Banderism and Zionism within the Ukraine conflict itself. They’re advancing the same psyop that the Banderites, and even moreso the Zionists, use to portray themselves as progressive. This is the psyop wherein the Ukrainian or “Israeli” regimes recruit allies who are “leftists,” or who are simply part of a certain identity group, and use the presence of these individuals to obscure the Nazistic nature of the cause they’re fighting for. This “democratic” and “free” anarchist platoon has the stated goal of narratively shielding the Kiev regime from scrutiny over its fascist activities. Which are horrifically real, despite the lies which Ilya tells the interviewer.
The Ukrainian government has criminalized speech that talks about the crimes of the country’s Nazi collaborators, making for institutionalized Holocaust denial. It’s officially celebrated these collaborators. It’s worked to carry on their legacy by working towards the ethnic cleansing of the Donbass Russian speakers, an effort that’s involved backing Nazi militias. Yet all of these realities can be erased within the discourse by showing that there are also “leftists” on the Ukrainian side. It’s the equivalent of when an “Israeli” soldier displayed a rainbow flag in Gaza last November, or when Zionist propagandists have adopted the “leftist” label so that they can better sell Netanyahu’s lies. With Ukraine, this kind of psyop is more effective, which has made the main parts of the U.S. “left” able to effectively be brought to the Zionist side.
Even though almost no leftists call themselves pro-Israel, the many among them who support Ukraine are on the same side as “Israel” in the broader geo-strategic conflict. The same is true if they’re obstinately anti-China, or anti-DPRK, or share the other traits of left-wing anti-communism which make somebody functionally in support of the imperial hegemon.
When the Banderites and the Zionists relocate their wars to the empire’s core, the parts of the left which have sided with the empire on the wars abroad aren’t suddenly going to start taking the right side of history. They’re going to assist the fascists, either narratively or physically, in the effort to purge communists and those who’ve been working with communists. This shows how fitting it is to put the “Israeli” flag next to the modern “Antifa” flag. Even though the left anti-communists who dominate modern “Antifa” will always swear they support Palestine, the way they’ve positioned themselves in the class conflict means they’re ready and willing to fight alongside the Zionists during this conflict’s most intense moment.
The Zionists who will join the far-right Jewish Defense League after they get kicked out of their illegal settlements, and then try to pick off communists in America, are going to find tacit allies in “Antifa.” Because the prevailing attitude within the modern “Antifa” branches is that people who support Russia, China, and the other biggest anti-imperialist forces are “fascists” who must be eliminated.
Within Ukraine, we’re already seeing the U.S. government work to nurture alliances between the fascists and the left anti-communists. All it needs to do is apply this practice within U.S. borders, and we’ll see a right-left alliance in favor of violent repression. If we can prepare to survive this purge attempt, though, we’ll be able to gain far more allies than the reactionaries. Because by bringing the fascists and “anti-fascists” together on the question of anti-communist violence, the government is creating a clearer dividing barrier on anti-imperialism. It’s giving everyone a better sense of who opposes and supports the empire. Those of us who oppose the empire can contrast ourselves with the reactionaries, showing the people that we’re the force which is unambiguously against the fascist terror. And if we do our job right, the majority of the people will come to support us. Because most Americans have come to oppose the proxy wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and therefore aren’t going to be inclined to support the fascists in the next war.
